Brook Perdigon

Brook Perdigon Textiles is a Los Angeles based design company founded by artist and designer Brook Perdigon. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Brook began her career as an independent designer creating custom textile collections for interior designers in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. She went on to hone her skills as a senior designer for Tai Ping Carpets, where she designed carpets for high profile clients and prestigious projects worldwide.

While working as a professional designer, Brook spent nights and weekends on her own designs. She launched her first collection in 2015, and in the Spring of 2016 took the leap and committed full-time to the development of her company. Her hand-printed fabrics are now available in more than six showrooms worldwide. In addition, she offers a collection of internationally-sourced antique textiles and produces custom fine art.

Brook founded her company with the belief that within all people is the innate impulse to adorn. Through her work, she examines cultures or groups of people where that impulse is raw and untrained. The result is a process and practice that stems from hand drawn geometrics- where imperfection is embraced and designs celebrate a folk-like element. Each collection is rooted in art history and informed by the comparisons between two different creative cultures. Her designs begin with either a painted sketch, block print, or hand-cut silk screen and end in a hand-screened fabric on Belgian linen.

With a commitment to cultivating and supporting the Los Angeles art community she calls home, Brook believes strongly that the success of each of her designs is rooted in the collaborative nature of the manufacturing process. All of her fabrics are printed in Los Angeles, and she regularly collaborates with local artists and designers to bring her patterns to life in 3-dimensional ways. Her latest work, a painted pool and dance performance inspired by her Ituri design, was a partnership with TARP.

Brook lives in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles with her partner, Michael and  their dog, Niko- aka the Vice President of Logistics. She loves to travel, create, and connect with other artists and female small business owners, celebrating the successes and challenges of running a creative business.
